As a new member to the club, i am looking for advice/direction. I am brining my bike to france on a plane later this month and own a bike bag. I heard i really should use a bike box. Anybody done this before.

I traveled a lot with bikes, the bag is fine but add some extra bubble wrap around the break, chains etc... make sure teh spokes of the wheels are well protected too and remove the pedals.

The box is much better, but more expensive, it does protect the frame better allong with teh wheels and the good bit is that they have wheels. the bag is not funny to carry with all the suitcases. Some bags have wheels.

if you use your bag, put your wetsuit and all teh gear you can, as there is no extra charge for the weight and they protect the bike too. last time I paid €30 each way I think with air lingus.

hope that's help.
